Based in Worthing in the UK, Dutton cars was one of the major kit car manufacturers in the 1980's.

The kit was supplied in the form of a steel chassis, fibreglass panels and a number of parts to help the builder attach the parts from a donor car.

The Dutton Phaeton Mk3 was designed to use the parts from a Mk1 / Mk2 Ford Escort.

The car was sold to an enthusiast in France in 2016 and re registered under the French system.
