The A35 was manufactured by the British Motor Corporation under
the Austin marque. The model was launched at Earls Court Motor Show
in 1956. Powered by a 948 cc 'A' series engine and a new gearbox
that had a remote-control gear-change the car had better performance
than its predecessor the A30. Distinguishing features included a
radiator grille that was now painted with a chrome-plated surround
and an enlarged rear window. The car was available in a number of versions including 2 and 4 door saloons, pickup, estate (Countryman) and a Van Production of the saloons ceased in 1959 My A35 or A2S5 as they were technically referred was registered in 1957 and since then has had a number of keepers. I acquired the car in January 2015 with the intent of restoring it to a presentable, safe and reliable example. |
